Little River Canyon (15 Minutes)

Nearby is the Little River Canyon National Preserve, which is filled with beautiful scenery. Whether you’re into hiking, photography, or just relaxing, areas such as the Little River Falls and Little River Canyon offer beauty and tranquility. On the western side of the Canyon, near Fort Payne, is an eleven-mile scenic drive that takes you along Alabama Hwy 176 and passes the Falls and the Canyon with scenic overlooks.

Alabama Band Fan Club & Museum (25 Minutes)

Visit our newly remodeled, state of the art museum, featuring over 50 years of music memorabilia. From the early days in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to the Country Music Hall of Fame, people of all ages enjoy this experience the story of ALABAMA's history. Our museum includes many personal items, videos, pictures, awards and gifts from other artists, never before seen in public until now. Alabama headquarters is located in Fort Payne, AL at 101 Glenn Boulevard SW near the intersection of State Hwy 35 & U.S. Hwy. 11 and less than a mile off I-59, Exit 218. 

From 1776 RV &  Campground, you go 10 minutes to I-59, then another 45 minutes to reach the sites on Lookout Mountain near Chattanooga, TN. Lookout Mountain spans Tennessee and Georgia, and rises 2,000 feet above sea level. It overlooks Chattanooga and offers some amazing views. The main attractions on Lookout Mountain include Rock City, Ruby Falls, the Incline Railway and Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park.

From 1776 RV &  Campground, you go 10 minutes to I-59, then another 18 minutes to exit 11, then GA 136 to the park.  Located on the western edge of Lookout Mountain, Cloudland Canyon is one of the largest and most scenic parks in Georgia. Home to thousand-foot deep canyons, sandstone cliffs, wild caves, waterfalls, cascading creeks, dense woodland and abundant wildlife, the park offers ample outdoor recreation.

Hiking and mountain biking trails abound. The most popular hiking paths include the short Overlook Trail, strenuous Waterfalls Trail and moderate West Rim Loop Trail. Mountain biking is available at the newly developed Five Points Recreation Area and along the Cloudland Connector Trail. The park also offers disc golf, a fishing pond, trails for horseback riding, picnicking and overlooks. Guests seeking an overnight experience can choose from fully-equipped and comfortable cottages, quirky yurts or several different types of camping and backpacking options.. 

Rock City, located on top of Lookout Mountain, is just 6 miles from Chattanooga, and about a 45 min drive from 1776 RV & Campground. Besides the large rock formations, where it gets it’s name, Rock City also features some amazing panoramic views. They boast that you can see 7 states. They also have gardens with over 400 native plant species, and specialty areas , such as the Enchanted Trail, Fairyland Caverns and Mother Goose Village. Combine Rock City with other area attractions, for a great fun-filled family vacation day.

Ruby Falls (45 Minutes)

Ruby Falls is a 145-foot waterfall located within Lookout Mountain. There are guided tours that take you into the cavern by elevator and lead you along a paved path to the falls. Guides will explain the geological formations that you come across along the way. It’s an exciting and educational experience

But there’s more at Ruby Falls. After the guided tour, make your way to the Lookout Mountain tower for beautiful panoramic views of the Tennessee River Valley, or you can take in the views of the valley from the treetops, via a zip line adventure. They have 5 different routes of zip lining for whatever difficulty level you are ready to take on.

The Lookout Mountain Incline Railway leads to the top of Lookout Mountain, starting from the historic St. Elmo neighborhood of Chattanooga. Passengers are transported via short drive (about 1 mile) to Point Park at the top of the mountain, which overlooks Chattanooga and the Tennessee River. It is touted as the world’s steepest passenger railway.

De Soto Falls and De Soto State Park (10 Minutes)

DeSoto Falls is a 100-foot waterfall formed where the west fork of the Little River plunges off of Lookout Mountain. It is one of the tallest and most visited waterfalls in Alabama, and is part of DeSoto State Park, which was named for Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto.

The Little River, the west fork of which flows through the park, is one of the only rivers in the world that flows almost entirely on a mountain top. De Soto State Park  offers miles of hiking trails, beautiful bluffs and rock formations, a number of small waterfalls, as well as amazing views of the De Soto Falls.

The Tennessee Aquarium is located on the banks of the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga, TN. The aquarium houses around 12,000 animals representing over 800 species. There are two major exhibits in the aquarium, the River Journey and the Ocean Journey. The River Journey follows the path of a raindrop from high in the Appalachian Mountains to the Gulf of Mexico. The Ocean Journey is essentially an extension of the River Journey by following the river into the Gulf of Mexico. Visitors explore habitats found in North America and the Gulf of Mexico, as well as a variety of exotic plants and animals from remote regions of the earth.

Some of the exciting exhibits from other areas include the Lemur Forest and Penguin Rock. The aquarium also contains an IMAX theater, with movies from the deep ocean, to enchanted islands, that make you feel like you are there

Cathedral Caverns State Park is located in the town of Woodville, AL, southwest of our park.  Originally called Bat Cave, Cathedral Caverns was opened to the public by Jacob Gurley in the 1950's. The cave was renamed because of its cathedral-like appearance.  Purchased by the state in 1987, it was opened as a State Park in the summer of 2000.  The first feature most people notice about Cathedral Caverns is its massive entrance. The huge opening measures 126 feet wide and 25 feet high, a possible world record for commercial caves. The grand entrance is only the beginning. Inside the cavern are some of the most beautiful formations Mother Nature has ever created including “Goliath”- one of the largest stalagmites in the world measuring 45 feet tall and 243 feet in circumference.   Cathedral Caverns features many amazing sites:  a "caveman" perched atop a flowstone wall, a "frozen" waterfall, a large stalagmite forest and a most improbable stone formation - a stalagmite that is 27 feet tall and 3 inches wide! 

 The park itself encompasses 493 acres, and there are marked hiking trails available for those wanting to enjoy the outdoors.
